American Craft Museum 40 West 53rd Street, New York, NY 10019 Museum-in-a-Bag Family Workshop with Inspector Collector a.k.a. Harley Spiller Saturday, February 2, 2002 1:00 - 3:00 PM Join us for this exciting family program - a think tank for the creation of museums in the future. After leading a brief tour of the current exhibition, Objects for Use: Handmade by Design, Inspector Collector will lead a discussion of the various components that have made up museums since their beginnings so long ago. Participants are then given access to a gigantic table of knickknacks, doodad, bric-a-brac, and curios of all different kinds. Selecting items of interest, they are then given tools of the museum trade (labels, felt, display mounts, etc) and encouraged to create a brand new type of museum. After each family demonstrates the unique characteristics of their homemade museum, there will be a small "opening" with snacks and drinks. Finally, participants will be shown how to re-create their museum display at home. Limited to 20 participants Fee: $5.00 per person; $2.50 ACM members |
