seeing my George W. Bush the Ursurper broken Amerikan flag pencil swastika,
Emily Tan flashed on her childhood in the Philippine Islands -
and sent me this fine piece . . .

...that is some powerful power packed piece made me literally reel back ...
...brings flashbacks..in the philippine islands not such a long time ago....
...there was a referendum...is the philippines going to be the 49th
(???unsure on exact number)

...i was very young at the time but i can still remember the fervor
of nationalist spirit that swept through the islands...
several members of my family were activists
and i used to sneak along to where
demonstrations, rallies, strikes, and pickets were happening...
...the answer was a resounding NO.
then negotiations for the u.s. forces to leave was reached...
but the forces hung around...which was causing a lot of distress because
the u.s. has so many enemies, the philippines did not want their presence....
still they hung around....
until mother nature helped....
mt. pinatubo erupted and buried the bases under tons of volcanic ash.
then the u.s.armed forces left...
and came back after the sept 11 excuse...
are in the muslim south and are most likely trading shots with sea pirates
because that area of wide open sea is infested with them.
...marcos became president...
was a popular one for the first 4,
declined in popularity but still got elected to a second term....
did not want to relinguish power at the end of 8 years...
so the writ of habeas corpus was suspended,
martial law declared...
curfew imposed, personal freedom immediately incarcerated...
anyone speaking against the government was immediately arrested
and put in the stockade as insurgents....
my uncle, a political science professor was immediately blacklisted,
hunted, found, thrown in the stockade with several of his students...
he was in for a year...
i used to help sweep his cell clean...
after awhile i was a regular visitor because my uncle
used to bring his students home so i knew them all personally...
tall for my age,
i played a mean game of table tennis
and my visits became a habit.
..people disappeared with no explanations....
chaos ruled....
with u.s. backing all the way...
for 20 years...
then the spiritual leader, cardinal sin
( that really is his name-
part chinese
- sin is a common last name, like tan-
when he was bishop sin, i used to talk to him-
he's built like buddha and has a similar countenance
because i was a good little girl and helped out in the sacristy
because my mother is a devout catholic
whose sole purpose in life is to spread good cheer,
good heart, good life thru helping humanity thru religious service)
...called for the people to march on the streets only with prayers and good heart....
thousands of masses packed the main highway
leading to malacanang palace where marcos was ensconced,
guarded by his military, overseen by uncle sam....
mothers offered soldiers food, drink, and advise....
vendors gave away their food to the hungry marchers...
prayers and songs were heard....
the order to fire was given...
and ignored...
u.s. choppers came and airlifted marcos and family to guam
then later settled them in hawaii
where imelda threw elaborate parties regularly.
...fact: the philippines celebrates 2 independence days...
June 12 and July 4th....
june 12 was declared by the filipino nationalists,
july 4th guess who?
...fact: the philippines acknowledges 2 national heroes...
andres bonifacio hero of the masses
and dr. jose rizal a u.s. choice....
both actually fought together for the same cause,
bonifacio working the masses,
rizal working the upper echelons...
should set aside time later to rewrite some history books...
...how's that for amorning ramble...peace
...the u.s. has watched and manipulated these scenes
many times over outside the u.s....
slowly slowly, seems like they're bringing it home now.
